Advent (The Karma Before The Storm) is the 5th track on the album, it is also the first track in the 'The Comet's Tail' section of the album. It was the first track of the album to be written, and was a staple of Caduceus' live set in the 1970's. Both Richard and Colin were members of Caduceus.

Advent (The Karma Before The Storm)

A whisper of wisdoms on stagnant air is sliding
Gently into our corners and drips, down our walls.
A snake in the shadows coils, hissing its laughter
While, silently, angels turn their heads ashamed of their tears.
They know its coming - they know it must.

And meanwhile, oblivious, the world sits back and smiles, obliquely;
Stroking its ego, and oozing contentment.
The rats in the street, cutting, stink of neurosis
As the changeling world coos and gibbers through rotting teeth.

Folding blood stained hands
Across a belly distended and bloated
With the famine of success:
The world sits, pregnant
With disease and perversion;
The child - perfection already dead within the womb
The tomb - the Dream
The Mess...........

And slowly the angels turn and walk away.
The time is fulfilled and the cure must be hard.
A glimmer of birth in a corner of space:
The angels acknowledge and lift their heads, assured but regretting;
They know its coming - they know it must...................
